ANNIE WOSENCRAFT THOMAS GIRL's HOME
A.W.Thomas Girls’ Home is a Home run by the KJP Assembly which was set up in the name of a Wales Missionary Mrs. Annie Woosencraft Thomas on 4 th November, 1981 AT Jaiaw Lumsyntiew, Shillong with an aim to ensure and cater all the basic needs, rights and safety of underprivileged children residing in every corner and villages of Meghalaya. For all those years the Home was run under a church based foundation in taking care and protect the under privileged children from all forms of exploitation and abuse. It was only after the implementation of Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) under Social Welfare Department, Meghalaya, and the Home got registered under Juvenile Justice Act, 2000 on 1 st August, 2013. Therefore, till date the Home has catered their support and helps more than 500 children in terms of physical, mental, moral, spiritual and economic development.

Mission
To inspire and channelize action in bringing about sustainable social change for the brighter future of the children; supporting and mentoring the children that empower them in gaining a positive energy that gives them happiness and become more active towards the society.
Our Objectives
To ensure all children are safe, healthy and feel the love and affectionate by everyone staying in the institution.
To ensure all children gives respect towards their cast, creed, colors and religion; able to express their views and opinions and best interest of the child is always the primary consideration in all policies, programmes and activities.
To encourage and mould the children to be more responsive and accountable towards their studies, talent and interest especially to make the best opportunity about the period of stay in the child care institution.
To add vision in our child.

Achievements
A.W.Thomas Girls’ Home was given an award in recognition of the valuable services to the community rendered in the field of Child Welfare by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, New Delhi in the year 2013.
A.W.Thomas Girls’ Home was given an award in recognition of the role as the most disciplined children in all the Child Care Institution by the Integrated Child Protection Scheme, Social Welfare Department, Shillong for the year 2015.
A.W.Thomas Girls’ Home was given recognition and the best in maintaining a minimum standard of the Home by the District Child Protection Unit, Shillong for the year 2018.
